My heart is full as I have watched and followed the Author, Katie Quinn, through her journey of gathering her research. THIS BOOK DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! You can hear Katie’s passion on each page and in each recipe! The illustrations are gorgeous and the pictures say a thousand words. This is not just a recipe book... it’s a beautiful story just as well! 10/10 I would recommend this for yourself or as a gift!
We learn in the opening pages that the author's life has been, in a sense, one of fermentation--of richness growing out of an early waiting--like crushed grapes or leavened bread. She rose to create for us this masterpiece, a culinary travelogue that whets our tastebuds as well as renews our longings to return to Europe's cafes and bistros. The next best thing to smelling and tasting authentic European foods is to make them in our own kitchens. Who doesn't want to try making scotch eggs?! And Katie Quinn's wonderfully written and beautiful illustrated book gives us recipes along with her impressive knowledge of the cultures.
